🌻 Colors 🌻
Orange is the color of light in the material, the spirit in matter. Golden-yellow is the color of the light of the pure Buddhic plane, the most subtle material, also called Devachan. Blue is the color of the spiritual plane, beyond matter.

When we elevate ourselves to the Buddhic plane, we can perceive colors clearly and even hear their sounds. One symbol for contemplation is a blue center surrounded by golden-yellow which is framed by orange.

If we see ourselves as spirit at the center of a circle, then the first circle around the center is the light, the soul itself; its enlightenment is called Buddhi. We don’t have to do anything to purify this light. Then there is the personality.

Depending on how advanced we are, it is controlled by either higher or lower thinking. The mind needs to be cleared of impurities to a point where thinking becomes transparent.

The light of the soul can shine through the body when thoughts are no longer drenched with personal motives and desires.

🌻 Even though Sri Rama and Sri Krishna were incarnations of the Divine, they approached a Guru. They taught the world the importance of having a Guru in one’s life. 🌻

Sage Sandeepani was the Guru to Sri Krishna and his friend Sudhama. Since Sri Krishna and Sudhama were great souls, they knew the importance of a Guru.

They served the Guru like he was Lord Shiva. Let’s see how Sri Krishna and Sudhama served Sage Sandeepani and how he blessed them.

Sloka: Yo gurussa sivah prokto ya ssiva ssa guru ssmrtaha Vikalpam yastu kurvita sa bhavet pataki gurau

Sri Krishna and Sudhama came under Sage Sandeepani’s tutelage at a very tender age. As children, they played together a lot. We will observe from this story that even though they quarreled and fought a lot, they never separated.

However, if the Guru gave them any tasks, they would always carry out those tasks with great love and devotion. They never postponed the task given by the Guru. Any task given by the Guru was immediately attended to and completed.

They would always make Sage Sandeepani happy. They would also take on all the tasks given by the wife of Sage Sandeepani. Once, she called for Sri Krishna and Sudhama. They immediately went up to her and asked if they were called.

She said “Yes, my dear sons, we are out of sacrificial wood. Please bring some from the forest”. The forest she was referring to was not an ordinary forest. It was a dense forest that was covered in darkness even during day time.

It would be impossible to see anything. It was filled with poisonous trees and predatory animals. Sri Krishna and Sudhama were tender little children. They were excited to go to the forest. They were not afraid. They happily agreed to carry out her command.

Saying,”Mother, don’t worry. We will bring lots of sacrificial wood”, they set out for the forest. It was completely dark in that dense forest. Sri Krishna and Sudhama gathered up the wood they could find in the darkness.

They couldn’t just pick up the wood, they had to search and gather. Soon, there were gusts and pouring rain. As sunset approached, the little traces of sunlight disappeared.

Sri Krishna and Sudhama got scared. The held hands and walked in the rain. Soon, the forest was flooded. Without letting go of each other, they began swimming.

It was no more a forest to walk in; it was a forest to swim in. They couldn’t tell where the ups and downs in the forest were. They had no idea where they were going.

Slowly, they found a tree that they took shelter under. They spent the night under the tree shivering in the cold. It was so dark and cold that it felt like the night of doomsday.

They were very scared. Somehow, the night passed. In the morning, Sage Sandeepani set out in search of the little children, calling out their names.

He found them both under the tree shivering from cold. He trembled with compassion. Let’s see what happens ahead.

Chapter 26
🌻 The Burning of Sanskaras 🌻

The Avatar suffers like no other human being. The Avatar has a universal body and a universal mind.

The forms of all beings are contained in his universal body, as the minds of all beings are contained in his universal mind. The Avatar suffers physically through all the individual bodies, and he suffers mentally through all individual minds.

The Avatar is responsible for every being in creation until that individual attains realization of its true divine nature.

The Avatar suffers physically while he is working on earth, because the universal work in the gross universe requires tremendous physical exertion. Through the exertion of his physical body while alive, he is directly at work for all physical beings in the universe.

Even now that the Avatar has dropped his body, he remains responsible for every being in the creation. Therefore, even when he is not physically present, he is still working to bring about the results of the work he did while physically on earth.

He continues to exert, but not physically; he exerts mentally, thus he suffers mentally, even while he is not in a human body, until the final results of his work manifest.

Why must the Avatar, who is God, suffer even after he has dropped his body?

He suffers mentally to bring about the results of his work, which is to burn the sanskaras of our minds through the fire of his love, and this happens during the period of his manifestation. That consuming fire of love exists in His universal mind.

All individual minds are contained in his universal mind, but also contained in that universal mind is his work and love for each being, because his universal mind feels the pressure of responsibility for every being from the beginning to the end.

This pressure of responsibility for all beings, combined with the resistance of their individual egos, is the factor that causes the Avatar to suffer mentally.

The Avatar's responsibility is to maintain an inner connection with each individual ego-mind, and to work for that individual mind through all of its evolution and involution in creation, until that limited mind becomes ready, as a result of the Avatar's efforts, for ego-annihilation.

The annihilation of the ego-mind is planned within the Avatar's universal mind. It is that fire of love in the universal mind that consumes the sanskaras of the limited mind.

The preparation for this annihilation is seen to while the Avatar is physically present on earth, but the result of that work is accomplished whether he is in a physical form or not.

This burning up of each being's sanskaras is now taking place in the Avatar's universal mind.

This burning and the results of this fire—mental annihilation—are both aspects of Meher Baba's manifestation.

57. Humanity had become obsessed with the idea of gain, the accumulation of material goods. Small and big wars were started with only one aim — to rob one’s neighbours... Sorcerers of black magic rejoiced, devouring lavish food received in the form of bloody vapours. 

They did not need to sully themselves through contact with those paltry people, who were prone to slay each other in hand-to-hand combat and were even prepared to blow up the planet simply to clear everything out of her bowels. 

People refused to understand that they themselves would perish with all the rest. But greed was simply blinding. And that was playing into the hands of the darkness. The world went mad. The Gorgon reigned supreme in people’s minds.

58. The Great Beacons of the World then arrived on the scene. Sometimes they would appear at one end of the Earth, sometimes at the other. 

These were the Sons of God, descended again to the Earth in order to bring the half-crazed world to its senses. People gradually began to wake up to the perception of Truths. 

But with the departure of these Great Bearers of Fire, human beings once again attacked each other with weapons, hiding behind the name or banner of the Son of God...

Sorrow filled the Hearts of the Sons of Light, who watched from above as the blood of those whom they had instructed in Love and Forgiveness was shed... Claiming the authority of the Sacred Names and Images, human beings schemed and plotted terrible intrigues. 

The darkness was deceptive, claiming to act on behalf of Heaven... The bloody harvest was on, as those who blindly trusted in the darkness were plunged into the gloom of ignorance.

🌻 10. Immortality is freedom from the feeling ‘I am’, to have that freedom remain in the sense ‘I am’, its simple, its crude, yet it works! 🌻

The feeling ‘I am’ is dormant at birth, it appears spontaneously say around the age of three. It is the essence of the five elements that make up the body or the food body.

The body is a limitation and as long as the ‘I am’ identifies itself with the body there is no chance of freedom and death is certain.

Eternity or immortality is possible only when you are free from the ‘I am’. For this freedom to accrue you have to be after the ‘I am’, understand it, abide in it and transcend it.

Judging from the enormous amount of spiritual literature available the understanding, abidance and transcendence of the ‘I am’ appears to be a too simple and crude ‘Sadhana’ or practice, yet it works!

🌻 Buddhic Planes 🌻

When we divide the Buddhic planes into three parts, we find all wisdom books on the third and lowest part. The books are accessible by our mind; there is a certain logic in them and many explanations.

When we ascend to the second and first level of the Buddhic plane, we find intuition in the second part and pure experience in the first.

Intuition does not stand logic. We may develop a certain logic for intuition, but when it comes to experience things become more difficult.

Oftentimes, in occult sciences such as astrology the act of interpretation derives from the intuitive plane; something make sense, although there is no logical explanation regarding the constellation of the planets.

This is a common experience for those who work with astrology and homeopathy from the intuitive plane.

The mental body, too, we can divide into three parts: in the mental-emotional, the coloring of the mental lies somewhere between orange and pink.

On the higher planes, the emotional aspect of the mental transforms into the love of wisdom. The intellectual-mental is filled with a bright orange color when the thinking is not crystallized, but clear and flexible.

The orange color of the pure mental enables us to experience wisdom. Wisdom is experienced as golden-yellow and leads eventually to a honey-yellow color.

The intuitive-mental is the body of intuition; also called the Buddhic body, which is of a bluish-white light. The motivate force of the body of wisdom is called causal body.

Chapter 25
🌻 The Language of Light - 4 🌻

The Avatar is the source of everything and his silence is the source of all words— mental, subtle and gross.

Meher Baba observed that the world's consciousness was reverberating loudly with the sounds of darkness out of proportion, thus causing imbalance in the world.

So Meher Baba observed silence, as human consciousness was already too deeply involved with the language of darkness, and the ordinary human mind did not have the capacity to understand the language of Light.

The Avatar worked silently in seclusion to release the language of wine, which contains his love, so that mankind's consciousness could regain its balance.

The language of wine has the power to burn away the language of darkness, and it has the power to take any man toward the language of Light.

Wine is a silent language, but it is very powerful, for love can wipe away the emptiness and vulgarity of the language of darkness. An intoxicated person talks more than usual.

Because of the intoxicating effect of the language of wine, the speed of the human mind's activities is increasing, and there is more and more chaos in the world. The speeding up of the human mind, resulting in confusion, however, is a sign that the world is ready to move into a new balance.

The time will soon come when the whole world will be rebalanced, because the Avatar has worked for the rebalancing of consciousness, and mankind will be ready to accept the God-Man's help.

A new balance in the world and mankind's conscious acceptance of God's help will be the Avatar's manifestation, and each person will experience his manifestation in the proportion of his love for God.

🌻 The Final Battle - 4 🌻

55. The beast had now lost one of her three lives, making her number 66. The next Gorgon sister could be defeated only by the Heart, full of the Fires of Immortality implanted by the Hand of the Creator. And this was His Son.

The Only Begotten Son of God had descended to the Earth to take upon His Loving Heart all the venomous arrows of gloom. His triumphs were due to Love alone. He softened petrified Hearts with the tenderest currents of the Light. Many followed Him, proclaiming the Gospel of Love — which had defeated the beast in man.

56. Love had dissolved the second Gorgon of gloom, leaving the eldest sister alone with a single number — 6. 

But 6 was the number of the Earth, and also the number of Life. It was immortal, as was the last Gorgon, who was woven of earthly Matter and reared on the currents of spiteful human miasmas. 

She could be defeated only by the united will of the all Loving Hearts knit together. Her name — the name of the monstrous mistress of darkness — was Basest Matter. And her glare had already touched every earthling, leaving in people’s minds the impress of gloom. 

The Gorgon had simply dissolved in human minds, bequeathing to each one a cell of her ill-fated flesh. Now she was completely confident in her own immortality.

Leave everything aside and just grab hold of the ‘I am’.

Just observe its power, its stirrings, and its movements that created the world along with which came all this turmoil and misery.

Come back to the ‘I am’ and let the ‘I am’ be in the ‘I am’.

Then it becomes still and disappears, and then there is peace for there is only the Absolute now.

Lord Shiva said no one ever asked him such a question. We may wonder, why that is. The sages seated around them were not ordinary people.

They were extraordinary; they were great seers, well versed in Vedas, capable of creating and sustaining life. Didn’t they ever ask such a question? Did no one ever ask such a question? Was Mother Goddess the first one to ask this question?

Yes. Because, as we discussed before, arrogance comes naturally to spiritual seekers. That is why the Guru Principle doesn’t come easily. People think they know the Guru Principle – Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, that’s it.

Just as knowledge coupled with humility, wealth coupled with sacrifice and relatives with love are rare, devotion towards Guru is rare in the spiritual path. There’s no real love between relatives. There’s only humor, everything is said with humor.

That is why Shankara Bhagavdpada composed Guru Ashtakam to explain that regardless of all the wealth knowledge fame and other possessions one is blessed with, if there’s no devotion to the Guru, there’s no use. We will discuss the Ashtakam towards the end.

So, Lord Shiva is acknowledging that He knows Parvati Devi asked this question with a view to bless and benefit the sages. Let’s get to the core of the matter. Guru is not an ordinary human being. First, we need to define who Guru is.

Sloka: “Yo gurussa sivah prokto ya ssiva ssa guru ssmrtaha Vikalpam yastu kurvita sa bhavet pataki gurau”

Guru is Shiva. Shiva is Guru. All scriptures declare this. People who forget this truth and discriminate are great sinners. Here, “Shiva” actually means Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. This is the Dattatreya Principle.

Just because the Guru eats and walks like us, we mistake Him to be just human. Lord Shiva says that it is a sin to consider the Guru as just a human being.

Let’s talk about the story of Sri Krishna and Sri Dhama. Even though Sri Krishna is God incarnate, he approached a Guru. Incarnations like Sri Krishna and Sri Rama had Gurus. We’ll talk about this more.

And what has this ‘I am’ given you but conflict and misery? It came, it identified with the body and you became an individual, now revert, come to the ‘I am’ transcend it and be peaceful and happy.

🌻 The Final Battle - 3 🌻

52. Earth felt a fresh inflow of forces. The Gods were tirelessly spinning the Wheel. And Earth could see how the Sparkling Thread was reaching towards her.

The Golden Fleece presented her with a new garment, woven from stellar threads. Yes, the Golden Fleece could array many an earthling in gold-brocaded garments which would protect them from the darkness. And heroes set out in search of it...

53. The planet could not lose people. The Mysterious Origin of Life had not arisen on her only to be crowned with death, grinding into dust all the works of Eternity, which had never been made by human hand.

No, the Earth had been begotten of the Light, and only He who gave her Life could ask for it back. But He who gives birth does not know death, for everything woven by Him contains the Threads of Immortality in its weave.

The planet was well aware that she was immortal. Yet all her earthly mysteries were accessible to the warlocks of the darkness, and it was precisely in this situation that the principal danger lurked.

54. Evil was busy casting his magical spells, engendering monsters of a like never before seen. The Earth was as open as the palm of one’s hand, for the Light is impossible to hide — it is there for everyone to see.

And lo, the darkness beheld the Shining Hearts of those who were full of the Spirit of Heroism. And she could not bear that dazzling Light. What she needed was stony hearts.

So she at once sent to the heroes her monstrous progeny — Medusa the Gorgon. Even one glance at that creature could turn a living being into a heartless stone. But one hero triumphed.

Medusa herself was beheaded and was no longer capable of harm. Wherever her two older sisters may have concealed themselves was a mystery to be solved by future generations of heroes.

🌻 The Language of Light - 3 🌻

When people are suffering from hunger, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, they cannot be in the mood to listen to spiritual discourses, messages, or philosophy about God. The world must be relieved of its suffering before it will be possible for mankind to accept God.

Why is mankind over involved with the gross world? What causes human consciousness to be overly concerned with this world?

The imbalance in human consciousness is caused by the over involvement with this shadow of the gross world.

Mankind's obsessive selfishness, brutality, hatred, lust, hypocrisy is completely out of proportion to a natural human state of mind.

Mankind's obses- siveness and imbalance is caused by attachment to this shadow, this gross world. This attachment has caused human consciousness to become indifferent and detached from God!

Thus the language of darkness, the sounds of all the low, dark desires become very powerful and there is no room left in the world or in human consciousness for the language of Light to be expressed. So it seems that God has disappeared from the world.

The world was suffering from its obsessive over involvement when God himself took human form on earth in the name of Meher Baba.

The seventh shadow was out of proportion, and mankind suffered from the severe imbalance of consciousness in the world, since the consciousness was reverberating the sounds of darkness very loudly and intensely.

They are very accomplished, wellversed in all Vedas and scriptures, capable of creating and sustaining life. Yet, they never asked such a question because arrogance comes naturally to spiritual seekers. 

Some people who buy something new, like a new phone, approach someone to show them how to use the phone. When the person starts explaining, the owner of the phone cuts him off midway saying he’s understood how to use the phone. 

A few days later, they realize they only know a little. But, they are too embarrassed to ask the same person, so they ask someone else. In the spiritual path, arrogance comes naturally. Let’s see what happens ahead.

🌻 Guidance from Within - 2 🌻

The purpose of studying wisdom is to step forward to the Atmic plane and to enter into self-awareness which we call the I AM or the soul.

There, wisdom disappears, just as the mental concepts have disappeared before hand already. Everything disappears - only the beauty of the awareness of existence remains.

The reasoning capacity of an elephant does not fit into that of a fly. Buddhi, the capacity of the soul, is much greater than the capacity of the brain.

Thus, it resides outside of the brain rather than within. The brain is only an instrument of the soul and, hence, the reasoning capacity of it. The initiate does not think with the brain, but outside of it.

That is why many initiates are proclaimed insane by their fellow men who cannot understand them. The one, for example, who lives in the higher realms of the Buddhic plane does not consider anything to belong to him, while the average man constantly thinks in terms of “mine” and “yours”.

For the initiate, it is an experience that everything belongs to the One, even he himself. He does not think “my possession, my house, my land…” When he contemplates upon the soul, he forgets his body.

The idea of holding on to something belongs to the reasoning capacity and the lower levels of Buddhi.

Use your memory to go back in time to the stage when you just came to know that ‘you are’ without words.

Did you have a sense of time then? Did you know who you are or who are your parents? Did you know where you were geographically located?

You knew none of these, it was a timeless presence, you did of course know space which came with the ‘I am’ but not time and this timeless presence applies to all.

Come back to this timeless and wordless ‘I am’ again and again.

🌻 The Language of Light - 2 🌻

If a gross conscious person does penance, and observes silence, not uttering a word for years, he cannot be regarded as silent, because he has gross impressions and his mental and physical activities will be according to those impressions, which are gross.

Likewise with the yogi who has subtle impressions, and the saint who has mental impressions; if they observe silence for years, they cannot be regarded as silent, because the yogi has subtle impressions and the saint has mental impressions, and their activities will be according to those impressions.

To enter into complete silence, one has to get rid of, lose, all one's impressions; only then can one hear the sound of the soundless Word of God.

The Avatar and the Perfect Masters who are free of gross, subtle, or mental impressions are always silent, even when they talk, because the sound they utter is their own language. Their language is the language of Light which has no audible sound. Avatar Meher Baba spoke in his own language and simultaneously observed silence.

When Meher Baba spoke his own language and kept apparent silence, it was for his work in the universe. It was necessary for him to speak his language only and observe silence in order to accomplish his universal work.

The Avatar undertakes silence when the seventh shadow of God, the gross world, reaches a point where it is out of proportion, so that, as a result, the balance of nature becomes terribly disturbed. The Avatar comes into the universe for the purpose of reestablishing a universal balance.

Mankind finds floods, earthquakes, famines, hurricanes, and volcanic eruptions as natural calamities in the world, and these calamities are caused by the imbalance in nature. The Avatar comes to readjust the forces of nature active on earth so they do not go completely out of control.

Rain is necessary for producing food, but if it rains too much or too little, then rain is out of proportion, and the increase of rain produces floods which wipe out crops. The lack of rain dries up crops and produces drought. In both cases, there becomes a shortage of food, and the result is famine.

The shadow of illusion is a necessary medium for realizing the Truth. But when the shadow reaches out of proportion, because of an imbalance in nature, then mankind suffers the repercussions produced by the various elements in the form of a catastrophe.

All the imbalance in nature is caused by mankind's over involvement with the shadow, which is the gross world. When there is an imbalance in human consciousness, there is inevitably an imbalance in nature.

Because all of human consciousness is overinvolved with the gross world, the whole world is suffering from the imbalance of nature.

49. The Titans entered the battle. Giants suckled by the darkness were trying to slay these Good Titans, which had been raised by Mother Earth herself. But while in contact with the Earth they seemed invincible, drawing tremendous strength from native soil. The battle raged on.

50. Erelong, the Earth opened wide beneath the feet of these malicious giant sorcerers, swallowing them up in turbulent streams of fiery lava. 

As a true Mother, she went to join the fray of battle, heroically defending her Sons of Light. And now, as her ground shuddered with indignation, she literally exploded with thousands of volcanoes that began to speak. 

And many sorcerer of black magic were buried alive beneath the volcanic soil. For long millennia they had become fossilized as stone, transformed into mountains...

51. The Sons of Light were victorious. Yet many of the enemy forces still lay concealed, using their knowledge of black magic. 

Furious with rage, under the will of the Lord of the Darkness, they were determined to avenge their rout by blowing up the planet. But the Earth had become unsuitable for the machinations of evil, as her soil, absorbing the Light, threw off the pretensions of the darkness.

The planet had to pay dearly for her Choice of Light. And the price of atonement allotted to her was death. At this point, however, the Gods intervened.

🌻 Guidance from Within - 1 🌻

Many people do not dare to meditate on the Buddhic plane. In this case, we choose a master who lives there, a Master of Wisdom. He is always on the Buddhic plane, and by meditating upon him we are already there ourselves - without knowing it.

The daily contemplation is important to re-call him in ourselves. When we close our eyes, we visualize the shape we are invoking as beautiful and as full of light as we can, and we connect mentally with it.

We can talk to him and tell him our problems. We can ask for guidance and advise. Then, the Buddhic plane will unfold in us, and we will hear in the heart what we should plan and do.

Without a teacher, we can easily get lost on the mental or Buddhic plane and become stuck.

There is even a certain part of the Buddhic plane where twisting and manipulation can occur. This way, some religions distorted old wisdom concepts and claimed them their properties to gain advantage.

For most people wisdom remains a concept as it appears in the books they study. It is only a mental burden for them without any real purpose. When some talk about wisdom, we feel like running away because all they do is recalling conceptual ideas.

They have neither assimilated what they studied, nor have they experienced the wisdom.

Jaya Guru Datta! We were talking about the style of chanting. Some people chant loudly. It is said that it is better to chant without letting out any sound, murmuring to yourself, while your lips are moving. 

Feels like that is better. This gives mediocre results. But, chanting in your mind, without the lips or tongue moving is the best and yields benefits a thousand times over. 

So, one way to chant is to loudly chant “Rama, Rama”, the second is to chant “Rama” without making any sound, just moving the lips and the third is to chant “Rama” in your mind, without moving your lips or tongue. While chanting, you should chant joyfully, without any sorrows or anxiety. 

Lot of people think chanting joyfully means to have a wide grin on your face. Is that real happiness from within? When chanting, the mind should be free from all anxiety. If you chant while experiencing that happiness, it will automatically reflect in your face. 

That is called “ajapa japam” (constant awareness of the mantra). Om Namo Hanumate Namaha. Om Namo Hanumate Namaha. Om Namo Hanumate Namaha. 

While chanting, if you close your eyes and see Lord Hanuman’s life history, His divine form, His glories as sung by millions of people, as if He’s flying in the sky, visualizing His form from His feet to His head, as if His form spans from the lower most worlds to the higher most, that peace will automatically radiate on your face.

🌻 6. The ‘I am’ is, it’s ever fresh, all else is inference, when the ‘I am’ goes all that remains is the Absolute. 🌻

This sense of ‘being’ is always there, fresh as ever, it doesn’t leave you, it’s always available. At whatever stage you are in your life it has stuck to you unchanged.

Circumstances, relationships, people, ideas and so forth everything else has been changing and is inferential but the ‘I am’ remained and has stood throughout this turbulence.

And what would happen when this ‘I am’ goes? What would remain? The hint is now more emphatic on something beyond the ‘I am’, the Absolute.

🌻 The Final Battle - 1 🌻

47. The hour had struck. Time began to flow in its designated channel. People were searching for those who were nearer and dearer to their Hearts. 

Many united in groups, forming societies knitted together by a single idea or aspiration. The idea of good or evil was that connecting link around which communities were organized. Humanity had made the Final Choice — in favour of Good. 

Evil therefore decided to change this Progress of Evolutionary Movement towards the Light, and to lay decisive battle against the idea of Peace. Thus began a series of global wars.

48. The Fireflies died, unable to withstand the attacks on their perishable bodies. But the Immortal Souls departed heavenward and, once again robed in human skins, returned to the Earth with strength derived from the Immortal Fires. 

They resumed the battle the darkness had imposed on them. Stars were supporting their chosen ones, unceasingly strengthening their Hearts with the currents of Love. 

Aglow with the thought of Good and Light, the Loving Hearts of the Fireflies were being immersed into pitch darkness, where their mission was to sow the Seeds of Love. 

The gloom of ignorance again and again erected solid walls of misunderstanding between the Bearers of Light and dormant consciousnesses. Evil knew that he could still find a great number of willing servants among the slumbering souls.

🌻 The Language of Wine and Light - 1 🌻

God is Light and his shadow, illusion, is darkness. God is Knowledge and his shadow, illusion, is ignorance.

Shadow is shadow and it cannot have substance, but this very shadow is the medium to know the Truth; for Light is experienced when darkness is known as darkness, and Knowledge is experienced when ignorance is known as ignorance. In the sphere of Infinity and Eternity, the language of Light is Knowledge, and the language of darkness is ignorance.

The aim of life is to become one with the Infinite and Eternal, and this aim is achieved through knowing the language of Light, to have Knowledge. But unless the language of darkness is forgotten, wiped out of the mind, the language of Light remains unknown—Knowledge is not experienced.

In order to forget the sounds of the language of darkness, it is necessary to learn the language of wine, which is ever-silent.

The language of wine, in its silence, absorbs all the sounds of the language of darkness, making the language of darkness non-existent; thus ignorance disappears.

The language of Light has no sound. It is the language of soundless sound, and because it is the very language of Knowledge Itself, it has substance. This substance is Knowledge Itself, and the Power of Knowledge is knowing, and its Bliss is knowing everything.

Shadow is the opposite of Light, therefore the expansion of shadow is always in the opposite direction of the Light—into darkness.

There are seven shadows in the opposite direction of the Light, and these seven shadows are active in their spheres of darkness. The fifth and sixth planes of the mental world are the first two shadows.

The four planes of the subtle world are the next four shadows. The gross world is the seventh shadow. These seven shadows, seven spheres of existence, are the seven shadows of God.

Gross sounds are produced in the gross world; subtle sounds are produced in the subtle world; mental sounds are produced in the mental world. These sounds are produced by the impressions of mind; sounds are the sound of sanskaras, and all sound is sanskaric.

So long as one has gross impressions, he makes a gross sound and cannot hear the subtle sound. Likewise, so long as one has subtle impressions, he makes a subtle sound and cannot hear the mental sound; and so long as one has mental light.

🌻. You should not disguise your laziness. You occupy a body. Your Guru also has taken a physical body. That is why it is inevitable that you offer physical service. 🌻

Until you experience the principle of non-duality that you and the Guru are one and the same, you have to continue this. 

For the sake of the sages, to help the sages experience the principle of non-duality, Parvati Devi prayed to Lord Shiva. Therefore, She first prostrated to Lord Shiva. 

To demonstrate the behavior towards Guru, she observed the rules of approaching a Guru honoring Lord Shiva as Her Guru. 

All this is the Divine Mother Parvati’s play. Here, who is Guru to Parvati Devi? In reality, a woman’s Guru is her husband. 

She must get initiation from her husband. But, when the husband is not qualified to do so, the scriptures stipulate that both the husband and wife should get initiated by the same Guru. 

They should not go to different Gurus. Who is qualified to initiate? Only one who has attained the full power of the mantra is qualified; otherwise he is not. 

Some people feel they received great initiation if they receive a small mantra after going through a lot of physical suffering, fasting, fussing and almost collapsing from weakness. 

Some get a cold water bath, sleep on the bare floor and feel like their deeksha or vow was fulfilled. Some Gurus also support this behavior. The disciples of course follow the Guru. 

In reality, he who gives initiation needs to have chanted the mantra millions of times. They should have experienced the power of the mantra. They should then pass on the energy and the mantra to the disciple. 

Only then will the disciple benefit from it. That is why, great saints don’t give initiation very easily. They postpone asking you to come back tomorrow, or the day after, or may be another day. 

They say that now is not a good time or that you will forget the mantra etc. They will not give initiation. They keep postponing. In this context, the style of chanting is also explained. 

Some people chant their mantra so loudly that people living three blocks away are annoyed. Then there are people who chant without letting out any sound. Their lips are moving and they are murmuring to themselves. This silent chanting is better. 

Instead of ostentatiously chanting aloud, it is better to chant silently in your mind with your lips moving. There’s not much benefit from chanting loudly. Even with lips moving, there may not be much benefit, we shall see. 

This (chanting silently with lips moving)is called “madhyama”. This gives mediocre results.”

🌻 Intellect and Intuition 🌻

The intellectual abilities of man encompass analytical thinking and interpreting.

This is reinforced through today’s educational system and is important in order to be effective in the external world.

The development of the intellect should not be confused with spiritual development though.

One of the spiritual abilities is the power of synthesis, through which we recognize the deeper correlations and the meaning of that which leads us to intellectual understanding. The intellect thinks critically.

Wisdom sees everything according to its purpose, and unanimity dominates. “The apparent contrasts complement each other,” said Pythagoras.

The intellect or mind can be equated with the Manas-principle, spirituality with Buddhi or the light of wisdom, and highest Divinity with Atma.

While Manas transmits messages from the environment to the inner man and also carries commands of will from within to the outside, Buddhi makes decisions about how to do things the right way.

It knows what is good and bad, what we should do or what rather not. In terms of reasoning, there is a gap between what we know and what we do.

We must build a bridge over this gap in order to live our lives in the light of wisdom. The bridge spans from the mental to the Buddhic plane, from intellect to intuition.

In the beginning, intuition is only a flashlight; but over time it transforms into a daily occurrence. “You connect yourselves, thus you receive.”

This is the promise of every master. “I guide and teach you from within. I will organize your personality from within. I will conduct the necessary transformations.”
